C-Reactive Protein Testing

What is C-Reactive Protein? In short C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a protein in the blood that increases whenever there is inflammation. C-Reactive Protein can rise dramatically if there is an acute infection.

A C-Reactive Protein test will tell you if your levels are high which could be related to infection if it has recently increased. The CRP test may also tell you if you have a more chronic problem and are at a greater risk for heart attack, stroke, or a circulatory problem.

This test should be done by everyone annually as a preventative measure against many degenerative diseases. Further, inflammation may also be a cause of obesity as several studies are starting to prove. If you are having trouble losing weight and your thyroid function appears to be fine, this would be a good test to take to see if inflammation may be the cause.
