FDA Approves Lap-Band Surgery for Less Obese People

The FDA recently approved Lap-Band Surgery for those whose BMI is 30 and also have a weight related condition such as diabetes. The surgery used to be reserved for people with BMIs of 40 and above or 35 plus a weight related condition.

This has lead to some controversy due to the fact that people might see this as a quick fix rather than a serious surgery. Hopefully, most healthcare providers are urging people that this should still only be used as a last resort after diet and exercise programs have consistently failed to produce results.
