Iron Overload

What is iron overload? Iron overload occurs when, after many years of iron build up in organ tissues such as the heart and/or liver.

Iron overload is a serious chronic condition that must be diagnosed and treated. Undiagnosed iron over load can lead to hemochromatosis, which can be life threatening.

Symptoms of iron overload are as follows:

-Fatigue
-Weakness
-Weight loss
-Joint pain
-Abdominal Pain.

If you think you may have iron overload go get tested. This can be diagnosed with simple blood tests that are called transferrin satturation and serum ferritin.
