PSA Test and Cancer

A study finds that the PSA test is the best test to be taken to determine whether a biopsy should be done or whether a person is at risk for prostate cancer. This test is very easy to perform, very inexpensive, and can go a long way in preventative measures towards cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer affects approximately one in six American men, and is the second most common cancer among this patient group, behind skin cancer. While death from prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in American men and more than 240,000 men will be diagnosed with the disease this year, it can be treatable. There are more than 2 million men that have survived prostate cancer. It is crucial that all men get tested for this disease yearly.
