B vitamins can lower homocysteine levels and provide significant stroke reduction. Increased levels of homocysteine in the blood may be associated with with heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, and possibly Alzheimer’s disease.

Stroke remains the third leading cause of death in the US, claiming more than 140,000 people each year. It has been shown in the past that lowering the homocysteine levels in the blood helps prevent strokes. Researchers in Europe and China have published results showing that B vitamins provide a significant protective effect on stroke by lowering the levels of homocysteine.
