Strike back! For a lot of us, winter means cold often cloudy days and long cold nights. We miss the warmth and most importantly the sun. We lose our tans and bathing suits and replace them with heavy coats and gloves. Well, what about our Vitamin D?
We produce Vitamin D from exposure to UV light that we absorb through our skin. Even the days the sun is able to shine during the winter, we do not go out to sunbath to fill up on our recommended dose of Vitamin D. That would be considered a bit extreme.
So, what are we to do? Take supplements? Drink lots of milk? Eat foods high in Vitamin D? All of the above? Then how do we know how much to take or how much is too much – it’s not like we have a Vitamin D gauge on us like a car has a gas gauge – though that would be very convenient! What is convenient is getting tested on your own schedule and getting clear, fast results to inform you whether or not you should be concerned about your Vitamin D intake or the lack thereof.
Some symptoms of Vitamin D overdose include decreased appetite, dehydration, fatigue, irritability, and vomiting.
Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to depression, heart disease, osteoporosis, fatigue, diabetes, and even autoimmune diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis.
Whether you have symptoms already or if you are taking a lot of supplements and are concerned it may be too much or too little:
Don’t let winter strike you down – get tested today!
